Recipe & options
Base: 2 oz Whiskey… depending on my mood, it could be bourbon or rye or Irish
Modifier: .75 to 1 oz Amaro… my choice is Amaro Montenegro, but feel free to experiment with what is your preference
Bitters: Angostura Orange, several heavy dashes
Sour / Acid: Lemon, a healthy squeeze of a fresh lemon wedge or equivalent from bottled
Ice: Feel free to make your own fancy ice squares, spheres, or whatever… I just put in a couple normal ice cubes
Preparation: I keep it simple, just stirred… but try it shaken if you want; add a lemon or orange twist as garnish if you’re fancy
Alternative: To turn this into a low (but not non-) alcoholic cocktail, substitute an alcohol free version of whiskey, such as Spiritless Kentucky 74
